about dust & distance
Joschka Völkel is the sporting mind behind Dust & Distance. As an ultra-cyclist and long-distance rider, he brings first-hand experience of what it means to ride unsupported, navigate through changing terrain and make decisions when the body is tired and the road is still long.
His approach to route design and event structure is shaped by real experience on the bike: endurance, self-reliance, preparation and respect for the landscape are at the core of what Dust & Distance stands for.
In 2024, Joschka took on the Transcontinental Race, one of the most demanding unsupported ultra-cycling races in the world, riding across Europe from Roubaix to Istanbul. His journey became part of the ZDF documentary “Das verrückteste Radrennen der Welt”, which followed him and Jana Kesenheimer through the highs, lows and raw reality of the TCR.
At Dust & Distance, Joschka translates this experience into a format designed by riders, for riders: challenging, honest, self-supported and deeply connected to the spirit of ultra-cycling.
Frank Jablonski brings the communication, organization and storytelling side to dust & distance. As founder and managing director of mylk+honey dream engineers GmbH, he connects event design, media production and community building — making sure the challenge is not only well organized, but also clearly told and shared.
Antje Hübenbecker adds hospitality, structure and a keen eye for what makes an event feel welcoming. With her background in film, television and the music industry, she helps shape the experience around the ride — from smooth processes to the moments that make participants, partners and guests feel genuinely welcome.
